G.S.T. exemptions include short term accommodations, which would be under 30 days, and any goods that are exported from Canada. To obtain G.S.T. Rebate forms please visit local hotels, motels, gift shops and duty free shops.
In order to receive a rebate, the receipt must be the original and you must show photo identification. The receipt must show the G.S.T. paid or show that it is included in the price. Individuals who visit Canada frequently can collect receipts for one year and then make one claim.
Instant cash rebates on purchases $14 to $500 can be claimed at duty free shops at the International border crossings.
More information on G.S.T. rebates for visitors to Canada can be found at 800-66-visit, for those calling within Canada, and 902-432-5608, for those calling from outside of Canada.
